Haulover Park
Outdoor Experiences
One of Miami’s most historic county parks, Haulover Park is a playground for thousands of visitors every year.
About the Park
Open to the public since 1948, the park is known for its beautiful pristine beaches, restored sand dunes and palm tree shaded picnic grounds. Perhaps the most famous aspect of the park is that a section of it is clothing-optional. The northern part of the beach has been clothing-optional since 1991.
The park was designed by historic architect William Lyman Phillips, also known for his developments of Matheson Hammock Park, Greynolds Park, Crandon Park and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens – all gorgeous areas in Miami.
Boating & Beach Rentals
The park features a popular fishing pier that serves as home base for a handful of fishing and diving boats. Many recreational boaters utilize the popular marina to launch into the water for a day of fun in the sun. There’s also a snack stand and an area to rent beach chairs and umbrellas.
Dog Park
A big draw for locals and visitors alike, Bark Park is a dog-friendly area that features plenty of shade as well as designated areas for both small and large dogs. You can also take your furry friend to the off-leash dog beach located between lifeguard towers two and three.
Kites, Skates & Bikes
Skyward Kites sells kites, windsocks, wind spinners and more in the park, plus hosts various free kite festivals like the annual Kiteober Festival in October. See everything from a 100 foot flying squid to a 150-foot flying rainbow.
Created through a partnership between the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Miami-Dade County, the 7,500 square foot Skate Park & Pump Track at Haulover Park is a great opportunity to practice tricks on wheels with a beautiful backdrop. It features a street course for skaters of most skill levels and a track of berms for BMX bikers and mountain bikers.
If You Go
Parking is available for a fee. Please note that no flotation devices are allowed on the beach. Contact the park for hours and amenity availability.
Haulover Park is home to Haulover Beach (a beautiful, and clothing optional beach) and a 99 acre park in the metropolitan area north of Bal Harbour. The beach, between the Intercoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, is a mile and a half long with white sand, picnic area, and sand dunes. This is a popular beach for surfers. There’s also a dog park for a $2 fee.
