To get a slice of Miami life without leaving the airport, head to American Airlines’ North Terminal, Concourse D. There you can take your pick from locally owned restaurants and bars as well as national brands. Of course, there’s an app for that: MIA2GO lets you order online for no-contact pickup at the airport’s restaurants.
You'll find Icebox Cafe, which is known for its salads, sandwiches and desserts. If you’ve got extra time, grab a table at Shula’s Bar & Grill, named for legendary Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula.
Concourse D is also where you’ll find the American Express Centurion Lounge, exclusively for American Express cardholders, featuring cuisine by award-winning Miami chef Michelle Bernstein and a relaxing oasis by exhale spa.

Miami International Airport has one of the most impressive public art programs of any major international airport, so be sure to check out its museum-quality art collection. It’s everywhere – even in the MIA Mover Station Skyride Connector, where you’ll experience Christopher Janney’s “Harmonic Convergence,” which turns the sky bridge into a prismatic rainbow. MIA Galleries, the airport’s arts program, has six galleries presenting contemporary works and rotating exhibitions that showcase Miami’s culture, lifestyle and history. Check out the historic photographs at the Hall of Aviation in the South Terminal. If you’re traveling with kids, you won’t want to miss the Children’s Gallery in the D-E Connector, featuring work by Miami-Dade Public School students in grades K-12.
