Living Your Best Queer Life
Nov 23, 2024
Starting: 2:30 PM
Discover stories of resilience and self-discovery at Living Your Best Queer Life on Sunday, November 24, in Room 8202 at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus. Part of the 2024 Miami Book Fair, this panel brings together three compelling voices who share their personal experiences of navigating identity, culture and acceptance. Komail Aijazuddin’s Manboobs: A Memoir of Musicals, Visas, Hope, and Cake recounts his journey from Pakistan to post-9/11 America, facing prejudice while searching for belonging. Geoffrey Mak’s Mean Boys: A Personal History explores the complexities of queer identity and societal pressures in a memoir that doubles as cultural critique. Greg Marshall’s Leg: The Story of a Limb and the Boy Who Grew from It offers a poignant and humorous look at growing up with physical challenges and learning to embrace the parts of oneself that cannot be changed. Together, these works provide powerful reflections on the queer experience across different cultures and contexts.
