Feb 21, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Labor history and community activism come together in a celebration of one of Miami's influential civil rights leaders and his enduring impact on workers' rights. African Americans & Labor: Celebrating Unity, Strength and Progress in History will be held on Friday, February 21 from 6 to 10pm at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, presented by COMTO Miami Chapter as part of their annual Black History event series.
The evening centers on the legacy of Joseph Caleb, a labor leader and activist who championed the rights of Black workers in Miami. His contributions to local labor movements will be highlighted alongside recognition of current union organizations, including TWU 291, International Longshoremen's Association Local 1416 and the United Teachers of Dade.
Beyond historical commemoration, the event offers a dynamic mix of cultural and social activities, featuring live music, a fashion show and networking opportunities. Attendees can connect with community leaders while enjoying food and participating in raffles throughout the evening.
Tickets are available for $20 in advance or $30 at the door.
