Miami's premier showcase of African contemporary art, the AfriKin Art Fair, returns to Maison Afrikin, in the Scott Galvin Community Center from December 1 - 8, during Miami Art Week. Themed Threads of Life in Fragments of Time, the 10th edition of the fair offers a week-long exploration of the interconnectedness of human existence, the cosmos and the transformative power of art.
The event kicks off with a VIP Opening and Press Preview on December 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by public days from December 2 to December 8, open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors can look forward to an array of artistic explorations, including performance art, climate change installations and immersive digital and visual artworks addressing ecological and social challenges. The fair stands in solidarity with voices advocating for urgent climate action, with installations and themes emphasizing environmental sustainability.
Special highlights include live health engagements with onsite health screenings, cultural performances celebrating global African dance and AfriKin Talk on December 7, which will explore shared human experiences through art. On December 8, the AfriKin Fashion show will blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. The fair also emphasizes inclusivity and education, featuring a youth-curated section where high school students exhibit artworks reflecting their interpretations of our interconnected existence.
