On Sunday, December 15, Ms. Allen-Agostini will discuss her latest historical novel, Death in the Dry River. Set in 1932 Trinidad, the story follows Police Constable Sonny Stone as he navigates a complex investigation involving calypso, conspiracy, and corruption. The novel delves into the complexities of colonialism, race and class in a society still grappling with the aftermath of slavery and indentureship
Lisa Allen-Agostini, an award-winning writer from Trinidad and Tobago, is known for her novel The Bread the Devil Knead, shortlisted for the 2022 Women's Prize for Fiction. Tickets for this event are free, and books will be available for purchase on-site.
