Discover the intricate emotion of saudade at An Evening with Amy Serrano on Friday, October 4 at Books & Books in Coral Gables. This immersive event, centered around Serrano's anthology Saudades: Anthological Contemplations on Persons, Places, Identity and Time, will feature readings, music, a short film and an art exhibit from the book. Serrano, an award-winning filmmaker, author and poet, explores the untranslatable concept of saudade, a bittersweet mix of longing and nostalgia, alongside contributions from 28 international artists. The evening includes a Q&A session with the author and artists, followed by a book signing.
Saudades: Anthological Contemplations on Persons, Places, Identity and Time is the first in the Untranslatable Words Series. The anthology delves into the complex emotion of saudade through a diverse range of creative expressions, including poetry, photography, paintings and essays from 28 artists across 12 countries. Each contributor offers a unique perspective on this profound and universal human experience, creating a multi-layered exploration of memory, identity and longing.
