Brushes with the Street: The Art of Purvis Young

Explore the expressive world of Purvis Young at Brushes with the Street: The Art of Purvis Young, opening December 8, 2024, at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center. The official opening brunch on December 15, from noon to 3:00 p.m., invites guests to engage with Young’s artistic legacy, with a special talk by Barbara Young at 2 p.m. Running through March 30, 2025, the exhibition offers an in-depth view of Young’s dynamic style and his use of found materials to reflect themes of resilience, community and justice, all set against Miami’s cultural backdrop.
