Recurring daily
In collaboration with Teatro El Público from Havana, Cuba, FUNDarte presents a stage adaptation of the 15th century Spanish tragicomedy La Celestina at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium, with a daily performance from Friday, January 26, 2024 to Sunday, January 28, 2024. FUNDarte revisits this literary master work with the objective of unveiling a contemporary portrayal of our urgencies and desires in the essence of classical theater.
Written by Fernando La Rojas, La Celestina is a mirror of a Spain where the repressive mores of the age stifle the pure love of youth. The characters of this masterwork endure in their timeless celebration of a jouissance that continues to provoke contemporary audiences. In the struggle between desire and flesh, morality and money, reality and sorcery, this fable of the old matchmaker reminds us that these forces remain in conflict and that we continue to engage in the same battles, even in the age of virtual reality.
Celestina includes scenes of nudity and sexual content. As a result, it is only suitable for individuals 21 years of age or older.
