This illustrated lecture by renowned dancer and choreographer Clarita Filgueiras delves into the musical traditions of Flamenco and its connections with Cuban rhythms.
Flamenco, deeply rooted in Spanish culture, incorporates "ritmos de Ida y Vuelta" - rhythms of coming and going - reflecting its historical exchanges with Cuba. This presentation showcases these connections through Flamenca Rumba and Guajiras, revealing the shared heritage between Spain and Cuba.
Clarita Filgueiras, acclaimed as one of the foremost Flamenco dancers, has received numerous awards, including the Choreographer’s Miami Award, Individual Artist Fellowship, two Folk Artist Awards and the Florida Heritage Award. She has performed with Grammy Award winner Antonio Rey, the Gypsy Kings, Carlota Santana Flamenco - Vivo Dance Company and the Florida Grand Opera’s production of Carmen.
