This event has passed.
Join the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science for The Climate Café: A Bright Lit Place Part 2 on Wednesday, November 13. This session continues the in-depth exploration of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP), one of the largest environmental projects in U.S. history. Nearly 30 years after its inception, this discussion will examine the current status of the plan, the challenges it has faced, and how climate change and sea level rise have impacted its progress.
Moderated by WLRN NPR environment reporter Jenny Staletovich, this event features insights from experts including Dr. Ben Kirtman from the University of Miami, Colonel Terrence "Rock" Salt (Ret.) of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Dr. Evelyn Gaiser from Florida International University. Together, they will discuss what has been delivered so far, what remains to be done, and the best path forward for the sustainable restoration of the Everglades and South Florida.
Part of the Pulitzer Center’s Connected Coastlines initiative, The Climate Café series provides an engaging platform for the public and students to connect with cutting-edge climate science. This free event will also be available via Zoom for virtual attendees.
