Climate Week Kayak Clean Up
This event has passed.
Paddle through Biscayne Bay's waters while removing harmful debris that threatens marine ecosystems and coastal habitats. The Climate Week Kayak Clean Up takes place on Tuesday, March 25, beginning at Biscayne Bay Paddleboards & Kayaks near Maurice Gibb Memorial Park in Miami Beach.
This collaborative initiative between Miami Waterkeeper and The International SeaKeepers Society coincides with Miami Climate Week 2025, offering participants a direct way to combat pollution while highlighting climate action needs. Volunteers will spend approximately 2 hours collecting plastic waste and other debris from waterways that harm marine life and impact shoreline health.
The cleanup requires some physical capability, including potential heavy lifting and kayak navigation skills, making it more appropriate for teenage and adult participants. Children who attend must remain under constant supervision by their guardians. Community service documentation is available for those who need it.
Registration opens at 9:00 a.m., with participants advised to bring refillable water bottles, closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get wet. Sun protection is recommended, and while gloves will be provided, volunteers may bring their own if preferred.
Tickets cost $35 per person, covering kayak rental, dry bags, waterproof phone cases, refreshments and waterproof speakers. Solo participants will be paired with others in double kayaks. Those with personal watercraft may also participate by contacting the organizers.
The event is weather-dependent and may be canceled with 24-hour notice if conditions are unfavorable.
