Frost Music Live presents an afternoon of contemporary classical music featuring Contrasts: Lindsay Kesselman & Frost Wind Ensemble on Sunday, October 6, at UM Gusman Concert Hall. Led by conductor Robert Carnochan, this performance features two-time GRAMMY-nominated soprano Lindsay Kesselman, who will join the Frost Wind Ensemble for the consortium premiere of Christopher Cerrone’s Darkening, Then Brightening. This newly composed work is set alongside Chen Yi’s Dragon Rhyme and David Maslanka’s Symphony No. 4, offering an evening of rich musical contrasts.
Kesselman is a passionate advocate for contemporary music. She has commissioned and premiered over 100 works, regularly collaborating with orchestras, wind symphonies, chamber ensembles and new music groups across the United States.
The concert will open with Chen Yi’s Dragon Rhyme, followed by the premiere of Cerrone’s work. The program will conclude with Maslanka’s Symphony No. 4.
