Esquina de Abuela Tours
Through Dec 29, 2024
weekly on Sunday, Friday, Saturday
From: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Discover Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood with the Esquina de Abuela Tours, offered every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 29. Located within a dynamic urban cultural center, Esquina de Abuela invites visitors to experience a unique blend of Cuban and Puerto Rican heritage, street art and community spirit. Known as a gathering space for artists and travelers alike, this center serves as both a canvas and a home, blending art, history and hospitality under one roof.
During the tour, visitors will uncover the origins of “Abuela’s Corner” and the legacy of founder Zoila Caridad Guerra, whose vision inspired this community-driven space. You’ll explore graffiti murals and fine art displays created by local and international artists, including notable talents like Claudia La Bianca, Dragon76 and Miguel “Bounce” Perez. The tour also highlights Esquina de Abuela’s green spaces, where sustainable practices are integrated into botanical arrangements that frame the artwork.
Alongside a guided exploration of the murals, which extend beyond the center to collaborations with schools like Comstock and Angelou Elementary, visitors will gain insight into Miami’s urban art scene and Esquina de Abuela’s role in it. The tour also showcases collaborations with urban music icons, with pop culture and music videos featuring artists such as Rick Ross, Anuel and Kodak Black.
Admission is $20 for general admission and $10 for Miami-Dade County residents, with proceeds supporting the preservation of the property and community events. Visitors will also have access to WiFi, restroom facilities and an opportunity to support the center by purchasing artwork, t-shirts and other items that further Esquina de Abuela’s mission.
