Exhibition Reception: Pastiche by Lauren Shapiro
This event has passed.
Join Vizcaya Museum & Gardens on Wednesday, October 23 for the opening reception of Pastiche by Lauren Shapiro. Presented as part of Vizcaya’s 2024 Contemporary Arts Program, this event marks the debut of Shapiro's site-specific work, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Vizcaya's artistic advisor, Paul Chalfin. The exhibition explores Vizcaya's architecture, history and environment through sculptures inspired by Chalfin's decorated spaces: the Breakfast Room, Enclosed Loggia and Reception Room. Known for her integration of ceramics and technology, Shapiro's creations in Miami-inspired pinks, blues and greens offer a contemporary take on the past.
The reception will be held in Vizcaya's Courtyard, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., Vizcaya Curator Helena Gomez will introduce Lauren Shapiro, who will discuss the inspiration and creative process behind Pastiche. The exhibition will be on view through May 19, 2025.
