Focus On: Hispanic Filmmakers

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a showcase of shorts by a selection of independent up-and-coming Hispanic filmmakers. The MIAMI short FILM FESTIVAL teams up with Deering Estate for Focus On: Hispanic Filmmakers on Sunday, September 8 at 7 p.m. Guests are invited to arrive early for a welcome cocktail reception and red carpet experience starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program of short films by filmmakers from Argentina, the USA, Mexico, Venezuela and Honduras.

Featured Films:

• El sueño de la mariposa - Directed by Andrés Aloi, Argentina. A tech entrepreneur questions the reality of his life.

• Tejano Night - Directed by Alexander Rosales, USA. An awkward Mexican American navigates a family gathering and a local bar.

• Luz de Dia - Directed by Mauricio Calderon, Mexico. A parking lot guard reflects on her fifteen years of service.

• Child for Child - Directed by Juan Avella, Venezuela. A Venezuelan kidnapper's life takes a surprising turn.

• Santitos - Directed by Angel Maldonado, Honduras. A taxi driver seeks redemption by reconciling with his estranged father.

• Spinning - Directed by Arturo Mendicuti and Isabel Vaca, Mexico. A woman grapples with guilt and deceit after a tragic accident.

The event will be held indoors at the Visitor Center Theater, with free parking available in the nearby Visitor Center lot on SW 168 Street.
