Free Second Saturdays: Black History Month
Feb 08, 2025
From: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Celebrate Black History Month with a day of art and creativity at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). On Saturday, February 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Free Second Saturdays: Black History Month invites visitors of all ages to explore the contributions and stories of Black artists through hands-on activities and guided tours.
Families can participate in an art-making workshop inspired by the works of British painter Hurvin Anderson. Anderson’s practice examines themes of memory, identity, and space, and his monumental 16-panel painting, currently on view at PAMM, serves as the foundation for the day’s creative activities. Using grids and layering techniques, participants will design their own landscapes or interiors that tell personal or family stories.
Guests are also encouraged to join docent-led tours showcasing works by Black artists throughout the museum. Afterward, enjoy a meal at Verde or relax on the museum’s waterfront terrace, taking in the beauty of the surrounding Biscayne Bay.
