Heritage Dance Collective Presents WE ALL
Jan 18, 2025
Two showings: 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Explore the power of history, resilience and storytelling through movement at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center. The fifth annual Heritage Dance Collective: WE ALL will be held on Saturday, January 18, with two performances at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
This year’s program draws inspiration from the Akan Tribe of Ghana’s proverb, “It is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot,” reflecting on how understanding the past shapes a better present and future. Featuring a captivating lineup of performances, the event celebrates diversity and triumph while highlighting the cultural significance of dance.
A special highlight includes “The HUNT,” a signature work by acclaimed choreographer and alumnus Robert Battle. Set to thunderous percussion, this powerful piece explores primal instincts and human nature through an ensemble of male dancers in an urban setting.
Now in its 50th year, the center continues to honor its legacy of artistic excellence and cultural preservation, offering audiences a transformative experience rooted in history and community.
