International Butoh Festival

The 1st South Florida International Butoh Festival kicks off on Saturday, October 5, at the Sandrell Rivers Theater, offering a diverse program centered around the avant-garde Japanese performance art of Butoh. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the festival includes a Japanese Dance Butoh Workshop led by Pinar Sinka of the Tokyo Space Dance Company, where participants will explore movement through Butoh’s unique philosophy and techniques. Open to those 18 and over, the workshop welcomes participants of all skill levels.
At 4:00 p.m., a Butoh Talk and Film Screening will provide deeper insights into the art form, concluding with a screening of Yoshito Ohno’s A Way of Life – Flower & Bird Butoh.
The festival is presented by PIArtButoh, an internationally acclaimed South Florida-based Butoh cultural organization dedicated to the growth and evolution of Butoh art on a global scale.
