Jen Stark: Sundial Spectrum
Through Feb 09, 2025
Sundial Spectrum by Jen Stark illuminates Española Way from December 3, 2024, to February 9, 2025, as part of the Elevate Española public art program. This seventh installment of the program transforms the historic Miami Beach corridor into a vibrant display of contemporary art, enhancing pedestrian connectivity between Española Way and Ocean Drive.
Los Angeles-based, Miami-born visual artist Jen Stark brings her signature style to this site-specific installation, merging art and sunlight in captivating ways. Sundial Spectrum features 13 sculptural panels crafted from clear acrylic sheets and laser-cut transparent vinyl, inspired by geometry and natural forms. As sunlight interacts with the panels, dynamic rainbow shadows create an abstract sundial effect, casting prismatic patterns along the pathway and engaging viewers in a hypnotic interplay of light and movement.
Known for exploring themes such as fractals, color theory and sacred geometries, Stark’s work spans diverse media, including paintings, sculptures, animations and interactive installations. Her globally exhibited pieces have appeared in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, with collections held at institutions like the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
The installation debuts with an opening reception on Tuesday, December 3, at 1:00 p.m. on Española Way between Washington Avenue and Collins Court, inviting the public to experience this immersive blend of color and form.
