Little Haiti Screening of Mountains

Immerse yourself in a multigenerational tale of resilience and heritage with the free screening of Mountains on Saturday, December 7, at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. Presented by the Haitian Cultural Arts Alliance, WeCount! and ébène, this debut feature by Monica Sorelle explores family dynamics, cultural preservation and the impact of gentrification within Miami’s Little Haiti.

The film follows Xavier (Atibon Nazaire), a demolition worker striving to provide a better home for his family, and his wife Esperance (Sheila Anozier), who juggles multiple jobs to sustain their household. Their world is disrupted when their son Junior (Chris Renois) returns home after leaving college, bringing unresolved tensions to light.

Following the screening, engage in a Q&A session with Monica Sorelle and lead actors Atibon Nazaire and Chris Renois. Presented in Haitian Creole, English and Spanish with English subtitles, Mountains has garnered acclaim at festivals including Tribeca, BlackStar, the Miami Film Festival, among others.
