Manatee Appreciation Day
Mar 26, 2025
From: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Conservation and marine life education come together at one of Miami's historic waterfront landmarks. Deering Estate welcomes visitors to Manatee Appreciation Day on Wednesday, March 26, offering $2 off general admission for this educational event.
The estate's boat basin, which opens to Biscayne Bay, provides an ideal viewing area for manatees, which are drawn to its calm waters and freshwater sources. Visitors can observe these gentle marine mammals in their natural habitat, along with other local marine life such as sea turtles, rays and dolphins. Miami Waterkeeper representatives will be on-site to share information about manatee conservation and habitat protection.
Throughout the day, guests can explore the estate's natural areas through a guided tour at 12:30 p.m., take self-guided walks on the Mangrove Boardwalk and visit the historic Cutler Burial Mound. The protected waters of the boat basin, where watercraft are not permitted, offer a peaceful environment for both wildlife and visitors to enjoy.
