Earth Day at Larry & Penny Thompson Park
Apr 26, 2025
From: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Explore the natural beauty of Miami-Dade's unique Pine Rockland ecosystem through hands-on conservation efforts. Earth Day at Larry & Penny Thompson Park takes place Saturday, April 26, offering an opportunity to make a positive environmental impact in your community.
Volunteers will work alongside park staff to restore vital habitats by planting native trees, removing invasive plant species, picking up litter and even preparing stakes for the upcoming sea turtle nesting season. This family-friendly day of service highlights Miami-Dade Parks' ongoing commitment to preserving South Florida's Pine Rockland habitats.
Beyond conservation work, visitors can explore an EcoVillage featuring educational booths, participate in tree giveaways through the Million Trees Miami initiative and enjoy various activities throughout the park. Registered volunteers will receive a commemorative Earth Day shirt at check-in.
Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes that may get dirty, and bring a refillable water bottle. All necessary tools will be provided by Miami-Dade Parks. Volunteers under 18 must be registered with a parent or guardian's account in Park Link.
This event is part of Miami-Dade Parks' Park Service Day program, which provides one-day community service opportunities throughout the year.
