Miami Short Film Festival at the Deering Estate
This event has passed.
Close out the 23rd Miami Short Film Festival with an evocative evening of cinema on Sunday, November 10, hosted in the Deering Estate’s Visitor Center theater. This final showcase, Journey into the World of Short Films, invites film enthusiasts to explore an artfully curated collection of five short films from across the globe, each offering a unique glimpse into the human experience. The evening begins with a cocktail hour at 7:00 p.m. (21+), followed by screenings at 7:30 p.m.
This program presents a blend of narratives that range from deeply introspective to fantastical. Highlights include Witness, a gripping 15-minute narrative from Iran about a young girl caught between loyalty and duty as she tries to save her father from execution, and SIRÈNES, a Martinique-based story about a fisherman’s daughter who unlocks a magical realm. The lineup also includes the animated short In the Shadow of the Cypress from Iran, an introspective look at isolation and hope, as well as Chikha - Queen from Morocco, where a young woman must choose between following her mother’s artistic path or a more conventional life. Rounding out the program is I’m Not a Robot from the Netherlands, an offbeat tale about a music producer questioning her own humanity.
Designed for viewers 18 and older, this closing program encapsulates the festival’s mission to celebrate the short film genre and spotlight global narratives that resonate. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $20 for students and seniors, available exclusively online through the Miami Short Film Festival. Free parking is available in the Visitor Center parking lot on SW 168 Street, west of 72nd Avenue. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the depth and diversity of international short films in a memorable setting at Deering Estate.
