Musical Vizcaya: American Form/s by Sphinx Virtuosi
Mar 24, 2025
From: 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Classical music resonates through the historical Vizcaya estate as an acclaimed chamber orchestra presents a diverse program of American compositions. As part of the Musical Vizcaya series, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens presents American Form/s, featuring the Sphinx Virtuosi, on Monday, March 24, with the performance beginning at 8 p.m.
The program, American Form/s, weaves together various musical traditions including soul, bluegrass, jazz, blues and ragtime within a classical framework. Featured works include pieces by Teresa Carreño, Derrick Skye, Curtis Stewart and Scott Joplin, among others. The performance will be held in the Main House's Courtyard and simulcast in the Main Garden.
The Sphinx Virtuosi, comprised of 18 Black and Latino musicians, represents the flagship ensemble of the Sphinx Organization, a non-profit dedicated to advancing diversity in classical music. The group recently released their debut album Songs for Our Times on Deutsche Grammophon in July 2023.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with refreshments available for purchase from a Vizcaya Cafe pop-up in the Forecourt. While Vizcaya members have exclusive access to limited seating in the Main House Courtyard, garden seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
