Marta Minujín, a recognized Latin American contemporary artist, presents a new public project in Miami. The Opening Celebration for Marta Minujín: Dreamscape will take place on Tuesday, March 18 at Jungle Plaza in the Miami Design District, marking the celebrated Argentine artist's first public project in the city.
This free art activation celebrates the unveiling of Dreamscape, offering the public an opportunity to witness Minujín's distinctive artistic approach that has challenged conventions since the 1960s. Known for her monumental installations and participatory sculptures, Minujín has consistently blended social commentary with immersive experiences throughout her career.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1943, Minujín gained international recognition for groundbreaking works like La menesunda (Mayhem, 1965) and El obelisco de pan dulce (The obelisk of sweet bread, 1979), which transformed public monuments into participatory art experiences. Her prescient exploration of mass media effects and institutional critique has positioned her as a visionary in contemporary art.
Minujín's career includes participation in major international exhibitions including the São Paulo Bienal, Venice Biennale and Documenta 14. Her works are held in collections worldwide, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art in New York and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
