The panel features Evan P. Bennett, Chris Meindl and Ian Wilson-Navarro, each of whom brings a unique perspective on Florida’s natural environments. Bennett’s Tampa Bay: The Story of an Estuary and Its People delves into the environmental history and challenges of the state’s largest open-water estuary. Meindl’s Florida Springs: From Geography to Politics and Restoration offers insight into the vital freshwater springs, examining both their geographical significance and the political efforts surrounding their preservation. Wilson-Navarro’s Dry Tortugas: Stronghold of Nature highlights the rich biodiversity and delicate ecosystems of Dry Tortugas National Park. The panel will explore the history, challenges and ongoing efforts to protect these vital ecosystems.
