Led by spoken word artist and environmental activist Arsimmer McCoy, this walking tour delves into the origins of this unique Miami neighborhood, founded after World War II as a residential area for African American veterans. Originally intended as a fruit grove by Pan American Airlines pilot Captain Frank Crawford Martin, the land was repurposed into a visionary community after a devastating hurricane. Richmond Heights was carefully planned to include homes, churches, schools and spaces for recreation, with streets named after prominent African American leaders.
