Miami Light Project's cinematic celebration of dance returns for its 11th edition. ScreenDance Miami 2025, taking place from January 17-25, brings together a diverse lineup of feature films, short programs and workshops from around the world. Curated by Pioneer Winter, the festival highlights the intersection of dance and film while supporting professionals in the development of dance for the camera.
This year’s festival will take place at several prominent venues in Miami and Miami Beach, including Perez Art Museum Miami, The Light Box Studio at Miami Theater Center in Miami Shores, New World Center’s WALLCAST at Soundscape Park and Miami Beach Bandshell. The festival’s programming, which is still being finalized, will include:

- Short & Feature Film Selections - Wednesday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Miami Beach Bandshell
- Short & Feature Film Selections - Thursday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Miami Theater Center

Pioneer Winter, a Miami-based choreographer and artistic director of Pioneer Winter Collective, has directed the festival since 2017, establishing it as a cornerstone for showcasing dance on screen. With an emphasis on queer visibility and community-driven performance, Winter’s curatorial work has expanded the boundaries of dance presentation in both public spaces and formal venues. Winter’s own films have been presented internationally, and in addition to curating ScreenDance Miami, he serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor at Florida International University.
