The Miami International Piano Festival’s Discovery Series brings world-class talent to Miami Beach. On Saturday, April 5, Russian pianist Sergey Belyavsky will make his debut at The Wolfsonian - FIU. His program will include works by C.P.E. Bach, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Scriabin and Schumann, offering a dynamic range of expression and technical mastery.
Sergey Belyavsky is known for his powerful and expressive performances, often described as a "beast on the keyboard" (The Utah Review) and praised for his "extraordinary expressive intelligence" (Bachtrack). Belyavsky has performed on renowned stages worldwide, including Victoria Concert Hall in Geneva, Weil Hall at Carnegie Hall, Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, among others. His concerto performances have featured major orchestras, such as the Utah Symphony, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Russian National Orchestra.
A highly decorated pianist, Belyavsky has won prizes in over thirty prestigious international piano competitions, including the Gina Bachauer Competition, the Budapest Liszt Competition and the Concours de Genève, where he recently earned second prize and the audience prize in 2022. He studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Eliso Virsaladze and Lev Natochenny and currently studies with Stanislav Ioudenitch at Park University in Kansas City. Belyavsky has released four solo albums, including his latest work featuring Schubert and Liszt, which was released on the KNS Classical label.
