Architectural heritage and human resilience intertwine in a photographic examination of Haiti's 2010 earthquake aftermath. Shattered Structures: Looking Back 15 Years to the Earthquake in Haiti opens February 19 and runs through March 27 at FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios' MBUS Design Gallery.
Haitian-American photographer Christopher L. Mitchell documents the earthquake's impact on Haiti's architectural landscape, capturing both structural devastation and the enduring spirit of affected communities. Through his photojournalistic lens, Mitchell explores the intersection of architectural vulnerability and cultural preservation in the face of natural disaster.
A reception marking the exhibition's opening will be held on February 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the MBUS Design Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to engage with Mitchell's visual narrative of loss and perseverance.
