Celebrate Women's History Month with an inspiring performance at the Deering Estate.
The Deering Estate presents its annual Women's History Month concert Celebrating Women in Music, featuring Artist-in-Residence Susana Behar on Saturday, March 15.
Known for her interpretations of Sephardic, Cuban and South American folkloric music, Behar brings together a talented ensemble including Michel Gonzalez on guitar, Magela Herrera on flute and vocals, Michael Font on percussion and Elvis Martinez on bass. The performance will showcase songs in multiple languages including Spanish, English, French, Ladino and Turkish, paying tribute to influential female singers and composers who have shaped musical history.
Set in the elegant Visitor's Center Theater, the evening begins with the main concert at 7:00 p.m., followed by an intimate cocktail reception with the artists at 8:30 p.m. This cherished annual tradition offers attendees the unique opportunity to experience Behar's distinctive style, which weaves together traditional melodies with contemporary arrangements.
Behar, whose impressive career includes performances at the Kennedy Center and collaborations with the National Arab Orchestra, has earned recognition through numerous accolades including the Individual Artist Fellowship Award in Folk and Traditional Arts from the Florida Department of State. She has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Deering Estate since January 2023.
