Apr 28, 2025
Starting: 7:00 PM
An evening of music, history and storytelling will unfold at Soundscape Park with a special WALLCAST® screening. The Eyes of the World: From D-Day to VE Day will be shown on Saturday, June 14, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
This multimedia presentation reconstructs the final 11 months of World War II, tracing the events from the D-Day landings in Normandy to the liberation of Paris and ultimately the fall of Berlin. Narrated by historian John Monsky, the program combines live performance recordings, historical imagery and firsthand accounts to offer a detailed view of the era through the eyes of soldiers, journalists and civilians. The production features the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, a respected ensemble based in New York City known for its versatility across classical and contemporary repertoires, alongside performances by four Broadway vocalists.
The Eyes of the World blends music and archival visuals to portray the emotional and political complexities of a critical period in modern history. The free screening at Soundscape Park allows audiences to experience the event outdoors via the New World Center’s expansive wall projection system.
