Celebrate Black culture, creativity and community at Garden of Eden: Celebrating Black Creation & Community, a three-day event from December 6-8 at Dunns Overtown Farm & Market as part of Soul Basel. This gathering highlights the rich history and cultural contributions of Overtown, a historic Black community, through art, music, food and acts of service.
What to Expect:
- Immersive Art Exhibition: Explore works that showcase the creative brilliance and cultural heritage of Overtown.
- Community Impact: Contribute to a Food and Community Fridge Drive supporting local families in need.
- Live Music: Enjoy a high-energy performance by The Crank, a celebrated GoGo band rooted in Black culture.
- Film Screening + Sound Bath: Experience The Earth is a Living Thing, a film presented by the University of Miami Center for Global Black Studies, paired with a calming sound bath.
- Milestone Celebration: Celebrate Dunn’s Overtown Farm’s achievement of USDA certification, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and community empowerment.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with Miami’s leaders, advocates and influencers in a space that honors Black identity and fosters meaningful connections.
As part of the broader Garden of Eden 2024 series, this event creates a platform for celebrating Overtown’s legacy while encouraging acts of service and community building. Free parking is available for Art Basel Week attendees who donate to Dunns Overtown Farm.
