Discover the untold stories behind four influential Queer men whose homes shaped American style from the Gilded to the Jazz Age. On Friday, November 8, at The Wolfsonian, art historian R. Tripp Evans will explore the lives and legacies of Charles L. Pendleton, Ogden Codman, Jr., Charles H. Gibson, Jr. and Henry Davis Sleeper. In his talk, based on his book The Importance of Being Furnished: Four Bachelors at Home, Evans will examine how these men crafted stunning interiors that both reflected and concealed their identities. This event is part of The Wolfsonian’s Mark Mamolen program series, which delves into the relationship between home design, personality and social values.
