Delve into Miami's prehistoric past with historian Malcolm Lauredo at The Inter-temporal Symposium on Miami History, hosted by Books & Books on Saturday, August 10. This event features a pop-up installation and lecture organized by the Greater Miami Bureau of Time Tourism, an experimental Miami history department. Lauredo will discuss pre-historic Miami, covering eras from the supercontinent Pangea to its transformation through the Ice Age. Accompanying the lecture will be immersive installations by Kayla DeLacerda and Siera Grace (AKA Lush Suburb), 16mm film screenings by Strange Pursuits and music by Imbicile.
Malcolm Lauredo is a Miami-based historian, curator, researcher and artist. His immersive lecture series, "A History of Miami," combines animations, soundscapes and original scores. He has held various prestigious roles, including director of the historic research department at Coral Gables Museum and research fellow at Vizcaya Museum. As a recent recipient of the Knight Foundation's Digital History as Art grant, he continues to push the boundaries of historical exploration and presentation.
