The Arsht Center's 2024-2025 Theater Up Close Season kicks off with the Zoetic Stage production of The Pillowman on select dates from October 24 to November 10. This haunting play by Martin McDonagh, known for his acclaimed films "The Banshees of Inisherin" and "In Bruges," marks Zoetic Stage's return to the horror genre following their successful productions of Frankenstein and Dracula. The Pillowman weaves a gripping narrative, echoing the styles of Stoppard, Kafka and the Brothers Grimm. Set in an unnamed totalitarian state, the story revolves around a writer whose dark short stories draw the scrutiny of authorities due to their eerie similarities to a series of child murders. This black comedy examines the role of the artist in society and asks what price do we pay for freedom of expression. Celebrate the Halloween season with this chilling and thought-provoking performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center.
