From: 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Explore mixed media artworks that depict the contributions of Black women to Miami's judiciary landscape. This Woman's Work: The Power of a Woman's Touch opens Friday, March 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum, featuring 100 plates created by Chief Anita Najiy, the first female Assistant Chief of the City of Miami Police Department.
The exhibition combines glass, mixed media print and fabric to tell the stories of trailblazing women in law enforcement and the legal system. Each piece contributes to a larger narrative about their influence and lasting impact on the community.
The opening luncheon features presentations by notable speakers including Trina Harris, CEO of Touching Miami with Love, and Stephanie Daniels, former Director of the Miami-Dade County Police Department. This event marks the second installment of the exhibition series, offering attendees an opportunity to engage with the artwork while learning about these pioneers' contributions.
Through Chief Najiy's artistic vision, the exhibition creates a visual dialogue about representation and leadership in Miami's law enforcement history, preserving these important stories for future generations.
