Turtlepalooza
Mar 16, 2025
From: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Celebrate marine conservation while supporting endangered sea turtles.
Marine conservation enthusiasts of all ages can participate in Turtlepalooza on Saturday, March 16 at Crandon Park, one of Miami-Dade County's heritage parks. This annual event highlights sea turtle and ocean conservation efforts through hands-on activities and educational opportunities.
The day begins with a beach cleanup from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with participants meeting at the Crandon Visitors & Nature Center before heading to Crandon Park North Beach, where volunteers will help remove microplastics and other debris from the shoreline. Following the cleanup, a conservation village will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the nature center, featuring local environmental organizations providing information and interactive displays.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy arts and crafts activities, animal encounters, guided eco-tours and an informative speaker series focused on marine conservation. The event is organized by the Sea Turtle Conservation Program (STCP), which monitors and protects sea turtle nests across 19 miles of Miami beaches during nesting season from March through October.
Parking is complimentary for all registered volunteers participating in the beach cleanup. Youth under 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Community service hours documentation is available upon request following the event.
