Experience a captivating fusion of cultures at Koubek Center on Monday, December 16.
Two Islands is an international residency bringing together Afro-Cuban and Aboriginal Australian artists. This collaboration explores the shared ancestral connections between these distinct cultures through music and dance.
The performance features Miami-based Afro-Cuban musician and educator Michael Gil, alongside NT Dance Company Artistic Director Gary Lang, Yolngu elder Banula Marika, and Marranunggu Marrathiyel singer-songwriter David Spry. Joined by Afro-Cuban dancer and choreographer Marisol Blanco, musicians Manuel Clua, René Pedroso, Caridad Paisán and dancer Suramy Suarez, the artists will merge rhythms and instruments to create new, rarely explored sounds, stories and choreography.
