Delve into stories of family, identity and resilience at Unbreakable Bonds & Revolutionary Love, part of the 2024 Miami Book Fair on Saturday, November 23 at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus. This panel discussion brings together three notable authors to explore the intersections of Haitian and Black American experiences through fiction and essays. Myriam J. A. Chancy’s Village Weavers tells the tale of two families tied to their homeland and hidden histories. Edwidge Danticat’s We’re Alone: Essays reflects on themes of identity and belonging. Fabienne Josaphat’s Kingdom of No Tomorrow centers on a young Haitian woman’s involvement with the Black Panther Party during the revolutionary fervor of the 1960s. Moderated by Vania André, editor-in-chief of The Haitian Times, this conversation promises a deep look into themes of love, self-determination and the human spirit.
