Miami Dade Reef Guard Association
Business Resources
The Reef Guard Association was set up in response to the Florida Coral Reef Protection Act.
This resulted in the installation of 42 mooring buoys being installed along the reefs adjacent to Miami-Dade County. These buoys were maintained through 2015 by donations and grants from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. There are about 48 miles of coral reef adjacent to Miami-Dade County. 25 miles are inside of Biscayne National Park. The other 23 miles are the responsibility of the Miami Dade Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM).
Because we love our Oceans, and because we love our City, it is now time for this cost to be included in the annual budgets. We are inviting everyone to contact the Miami Dade County Commissioner and request this funding be included.
