Immerse yourself in a celebration of nature, history and community at a family-friendly garden festival in the heart of historic Coral Gables. A Century in Bloom, taking place on Sunday, February 23, transforms the grounds of the Historic Merrick House Museum into a showcase of Florida's natural heritage as part of the city's centennial celebrations.
From 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., visitors can explore diverse activities including eco-art workshops, nature-themed scavenger hunts and storytelling sessions. The event features educational presentations by environmental experts, including Barbara McAdam's insights on Florida-friendly native landscaping and Dennis Olle's crucial work protecting the Miami Blue butterfly.
Local artisans and nature-focused vendors will display their wares, from honey products to botanical art. Guests can browse unique offerings from Bee Wranglers, Florida Butterfly Botanicals and various local craftspeople. Mario Fernandez of Belle Fleur will demonstrate sophisticated floral design techniques for home decoration.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can enjoy live music while sampling refreshments from food vendors including Nacho Bizness, International Taco Bar and Frances L'amore Per il Gelato. The Coral Gables Garden Club will host both a historical exhibition and an herb sale, connecting the city's gardening heritage with its future.
