A Morning with Maika and Maritza Moulite
Apr 27, 2025
From: 11:00 AM to Noon
Miami's literary scene welcomes the talented Moulite sisters for an engaging discussion of their latest novel. A Morning with Maika and Maritza Moulite will be held at Books & Books in Coral Gables on Sunday, April 27.
The event showcases their new book The Summer I Ate the Rich, a contemporary novel that weaves Haitian zombie folklore into a biting commentary on socioeconomic inequality. Attendees will hear the author duo discuss their smart, thought-provoking story about Brielle Petitfour, a Haitian American girl who discovers unusual culinary abilities that allow her to serve up revenge against wealthy elites who have harmed her family.
The Moulite sisters, established voices in young adult literature, bring their unique perspectives as daughters of Haitian immigrants to this modern-day fable. Maika, a doctoral student at Howard University, and Maritza, a PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania, both explore cultural themes and social issues through their storytelling.
This free event provides literature enthusiasts an opportunity to engage with the authors and purchase signed copies of their book.
