African Fashion Week Miami
Dec 06, 2025 - Dec 07, 2025
From: 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM
Historical fashion narratives come alive through a showcase honoring the brave women of Nder and their legacy of resistance and dignity. African Fashion Week Miami, presented by Afrikin as part of Miami Art Week, will take place December 6-7 at the Scott Galvin Community Center.
The event, titled AfriKin Fashion Runway: TALATAY NDER - Fire of the Queens, commemorates the women of Nder who, on March 7, 1820, chose self-determination over slavery—a powerful act of resistance that continues to inspire. Designers from across Africa and its diaspora will present collections that channel this legacy through their creative vision.
Visitors can expect to see a blend of traditional African silhouettes with contemporary design elements, featuring fabrics and patterns that reference both royal traditions and revolutionary spirit. Each runway presentation contributes to a larger narrative about resistance, resilience and cultural heritage preserved through art.
Produced by Senegalese fashion designer Rama Diaw, the showcase is part of the broader AfriKin Art Fair 2025. This event offers attendees an opportunity to witness how historical narratives can be reimagined through fashion.
