Alhambra Orchestra: Late Romantic Fireworks

Romantic musical masterworks take center stage in a concert featuring a hometown virtuoso and Miami’s community orchestra. Late Romantic Fireworks will be presented on Saturday, May 3, at the FIU Wertheim Performing Arts Center, with acclaimed cellist Thomas Mesa joining the Alhambra Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Andai.
Mesa, a 2025 recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, returns to his Miami roots to perform Dvořák’s celebrated Cello Concerto. The program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s dramatic 1812 Overture, known for its powerful crescendos and stirring themes. The concert will also feature a special performance by the string ensemble from Whispering Pines Elementary.
