Discover the transatlantic journey of an iconic design style at Art Deco Crosses the Atlantic on Saturday, January 18, at The Wolfsonian–FIU. Part of Art Deco Weekend and presented in collaboration with the Miami Design Preservation League and Alliance Française Miami Metro, this event examines how Art Deco expanded from its origins at the 1925 Paris Exposition to influence design and culture in the United States.
Art historian Madeleine Deschamps will explore the movement’s evolution, highlighting its impact on everything from architecture and transportation to everyday objects. The talk will delve into how Art Deco reflected a society in transition, blending exuberant aesthetics with the social changes of the era in both France and the U.S.
