Musical traditions from India, Europe and Africa interweave in this outdoor performance of original compositions. Asian Fusion: East Meets West featuring pianist Charu Suri comes to Lummus Park on Sunday, March 16, as part of the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series.
A Carnegie Hall performer and one of India's few female composers to grace that prestigious stage, Suri creates music that incorporates traditional ragas alongside global influences. Her compositions draw primarily from ragas, which are intrinsically tied to specific times of day and their corresponding moods.
Visitors are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the free performance, which takes place between 14th Street and 14th Place. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors to The Betsy Hotel.
The Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series is a weekly Sunday concert series made possible through the support of The City of Miami Beach, The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and The Ocean Drive Association.
