
Being Human Festival: I Am Little Haiti

Community celebration connects attendees with Haitian culture, film, music and language. I Am Little Haiti: A Global Borderless Caribbean Homecoming will take place on Monday, April 21 at 7200 Biscayne Blvd. This free event is part of the Being Human Festival 2025 and explores the importance of place for immigrant communities facing challenges including climate change, deportation and gentrification.
The evening features multiple cultural components, beginning with a screening of the documentary film La Belle Vie followed by a discussion with filmmaker Rachelle Salnave. Attendees will also enjoy a musical performance by artist Inez Barlatier and receive an introductory Creole language lesson led by FIU graduate student Nyya Toussaint.
This multifaceted program highlights Little Haiti's cultural significance while addressing the contemporary issues affecting the neighborhood and its residents.
