Explore the intersection of music, photography and culture at BPM: Beats, Pics & Masters on Friday, December 6, at the Historic Ward Rooming House in Overtown. Presented by Point Comfort Art Fair + Show and Hampton Art Lovers, this event delves into the artistry and emotional complexities of DJ culture through the lens of photographer Rahsaan “Fly Guy” Alexander.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with the Indaba Lounge Series Artist Talk, where Rahsaan “Fly Guy” Alexander and Datwon Thomas, Editor of Vibe Magazine, discuss the second installment of the BPM series, moderated by Dr. James Peterson. From 7 to 10 p.m., the event transitions into the Indaba Lounge Series Mixer: Sound Sculptures, featuring curated sounds by Rahsaan “Fly Guy” Alexander and friends, hosted by Habesha Hub. Guests can enjoy an immersive reception with music and photography that celebrates and humanizes the role of DJs in contemporary culture.
